U.S. Market
Most U.S. stocks rose as the Federal Reserve suggested it plans to leave its benchmark interest rate at a record low to safeguard the economic recovery and banks rallied on analyst upgrades.

European Market
European stocks gained, pushing the Stoxx Europe 600 Index to the highest level since September 2008, as the biggest rise in U.S. jobs in three years and growth in services and home sales indicated the global economy is strengthening.

Japan Market
Japanese stocks fell, ending a three-day winning streak as investors took advantage of recent gains to sell and the yen strengthened.

Asia / Pacific Market
Asian commodity stocks rose, lifting the MSCI Asia Pacific Index up for the fourth straight day, and copper soared to crack the $8,000-a-ton level on signs the global economic recovery is gathering pace.

Taiwan’s Taiex index climbed for a third consecutive day to its highest since Jan. 21. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. advanced the highest since Jan. 15. Chip designer Mediatek Inc. rose the highest since Jan. 20. Australia’s central bank raised its benchmark interest rate to 4.25 percent and signaled further increases, dismissing warnings that higher borrowing costs are already eroding consumer spending.

China/ Hong Kong Market
China’s stocks rose, extending the biggest weekly advance this year, as raw-material producers gained on speculation the global economic recovery will boost demand for commodities. Developers declined.

Emerging Markets
Brazil’s Bovespa index fell for the first time in seven days on speculation the rally that pushed it to the highest level since June 2008 was overdone because the global economic recovery is slowing.

Bond Market
Treasury notes rose for the first time in four days as yields near the highest levels since June lured investors to a record-tying $40 billion auction of three-year notes.
