U.S. Market
U.S. stocks declined, ending an eight-day winning streak for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, as India’s unexpected interest rate boost spurred speculation withdrawals of economic stimulus will curtail global growth.

Confidence among U.S. consumers was higher than anticipated in March as companies slowed the pace of job cuts and stocks advanced.

European Market
European stocks rose for a fourth straight week as European leaders agreed on a Greek rescue proposal, putting the International Monetary Fund on standby.

Japan Market
Japanese stocks rose, sending the Nikkei 225 Stock Average to its highest close in almost 18 months, as a weaker yen boosted the earnings outlook for companies dependent on overseas demand.

Asia / Pacific Market
Asian stocks rose on speculation European leaders will agree on a bailout for debt-stricken Greece.

Taiwan’s Taiex index rose, recorded its first decline in four weeks. Solar cell companies: Gintech Energy Corp., Taiwan’s second-largest solar cell-maker, rose to the highest since Dec. 16, 2009. Chinese industrial companies’ profit accelerated in the first two months of the year after the unprecedented credit growth and stimulus package last year spurred a rebound in the world’s third-largest economy.

Hong Kong stocks rose, paring the Hang Seng Index’s drop this week, on speculation European leaders will form an agreement to ease Greece’s debt problems.

Russia’s central bank cut its main interest rates for the 12th time in less than a year to resuscitate lending and contain the ruble’s gains as the economic recovery stutters.
