U.S. Market
Most U.S. stocks fell, pulling the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index down from a 17-month high, as a drop in consumer confidence overshadowed an unexpected increase in retail sales.

Americans braved blizzards to propel retail sales in February, pointing to a broadening in growth that will help sustain the expansion.

European Market
European stocks advanced, extending the Stoxx Europe 600 Index’s second consecutive weekly gain, on speculation the European Union may offer to bail out Greece and an unexpected increase in U.S. retail sales.

Japan Market
Japanese shares gained, sending Nikkei 225 Stock Average to its biggest weekly advance in three months, on optimism the yen will weaken further amid speculation the central bank will loosen monetary policies.

Asia / Pacific Market
Asian stocks rose, sending the MSCI Asia Pacific to its third weekly advance, on speculation the Bank of Japan will add funds to the financial system and as drugmakers gained on the outlook for their U.S. earnings.

Taiwan’s Taiex index was little changed. Motech Industries Inc., Taiwan’s largest solar-cell maker, rose for the second day. Citigroup Inc. said in a report Motech and Gintech Energy Corp. are its top picks for Taiwan solar cell makers.

South Korea’s Kospi index rose. It’s the stock gauge’s fifth weekly advance. LG Display Co., the world’s second-largest maker of liquid-crystal displays, gained. LG Display said prices of some products may rise and that the company will decide on a new production line soon. The stock also gained after Woori Investment & Securities Co. said the company’s first-quarter operating profit will “far exceed” analysts’ estimates.

China/ Hong Kong Market
China’s stocks dropped the most in a week, capping a second weekly retreat, on concern the government will intensify measures to slow economic growth and avert asset bubbles.

Most Hong Kong stocks fell as mainland developers slid after the Shanghai Securities News said China may raise the deposit requirement for land sales, heightening concern the nation will act to slow its economy.

Emerging Markets
Brazil’s Bovespa stock index dropped for a second day, paring its gain for the week, as financial companies declined on concern the central bank will raise interest rates at its meeting in five days.

Bond Market
Treasury two-year notes recorded a second consecutive weekly drop after Greece’s deficit crisis eased as European nations considered creating a monetary fund to support debt-strapped nations.
